Rae Pung

a Singaporean pianist lauded for her mesmerizing performances, pedagogy and collaborative works.​​

​​

With a passion to contribute towards Singapore’s classical piano scene, Rae is the Artistic Director of the inaugural 2026 Virtù d’Arte International Piano Competition & Festival, supported by Steinway Gallery Singapore. 

In 2024, Rae Yue Pung released a full-length album “Piano Sonatas” alongside several EPs that were selected to be on Spotify’s editorial playlist, “Classical New Releases”. Her versatility and musical curiosity has driven her to work with orchestras all over the world, such as the Danube Symphony Orchestra, Dohnányi Symphony Orchestra Budafok, Orchestra Filarmonica della Calabria, Toruń Symphony Orchestra, Academic Symphony Orchestra of Kharkiv Regional Philharmonic, Orchestra of Music Makers, the Philharmonic Orchestra at the University of Alicante, Orquesta de Cámara, The Academic Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine and more. 

 

Her passion to share her music has led to features in media outlets worldwide such as The Straits Times, Serenade Magazine, The Vale Magazine, Teen World of Arts, The Star, Luxe Beat Magazine, Murcia Today, Todo Alicante, Ritmo Magazine, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Modern Classical Music Magazine, LianHe ZaoBao, TV Torún, Telewizja Polska, Interlude.hk, Classical Music Daily, Musik Magazine and Bresciaoggi.  

 Rae has won prizes in competitions including the Nuova Coppa Pianisti Competition, Sydney Eisteddfod Kawai Scholarship, Val Tidone Piano Competition, V International Subcarpathian Chopin Piano Competition, VIII Budapest International Chopin Competition, XIII Volodymyr Krainev Piano Competition, XII International Piano Competition for Young Pianists in memory of Vladimir Horowitz, XXI International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth, Jeune Chopin International Piano Competition,10th Edition Young Pianist of the North Upon Tyne Competition, the 35th Città di Barletta International Competition, Concorso Pianistico Internazionale Recondite Armonie, and the Piano Island Festival and Competition. 

Her works have been shared with audiences around the world through radio stations such as Symphony 92.4FM, Rádio Armazém, Planet Network, Berlin On Air, and Rádio Criativa10.

Rae’s commitment to musical dialogue goes beyond performance- her original composition for piano and string “Tremolo” was invited to be featured in PlayPark Singapore’s multimedia gaming experience. Additionally, Rae served on the jury of the 2025 Ars Nova International Music Competition, where she led several masterclasses. She has also taken up conducting under Marco Boni, Conductor of the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra in Amsterdam.

Rae has studied under pre-eminent pedagogues such as Ingrid Fliter, Boris Petrushansky, Stanislav Ioudenitch, Piotr Paleczny and Andrzej Jasinski. Starting her musical studies at the age of four under Thomas Hecht, then Head of Keyboard at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, Rae was accepted into many prestigious institutions, ultimately studying in Oberlin Conservatory, Fondazione Accademia Internazionale di Imola, and The Purcell School.​​​​

 

She is currently working on her second album "Wisteria Lights", to be released in 2026.

Rae is a seasoned performer who has travelled across the globe to share her music to audiences. As a musician, Rae believes in transmitting the composer’s message and emotions to the listener as authentically as possible. Her efforts have rewarded her with countless opportunities to perform in unique and meaningful venues.
